Have you ever looked at your tennis shoes and wondered why to you have that extra hole in which no one ever laces their shoes? You may see runners running along side the road will utilize the loop lacing lock technique at top holes of their shoes.

Why? It allows for a tighter, more secure, fit when running for long distances. A loop lock at the top of the shoe can help with heel slippage. The loop lacing technique can also help those that have a narrow foot. By creating two to three loop locks at the mid foot, it allows a much tighter fit for someone that feels they have to much room in the middle portion of the shoe. Before you rely exclusively on the loop lock, it would be best to start with a correct fitting shoe.

Do you have a wide foot? Always feel like your tennis shoe cramp your toes because the bottom lace gets to tight? Someone with a wide forefoot can go to a specialty running shoe store and have them order a wide in a particular shoe. In addition, the lacing can be modified by running the laces straight up the side of the shoe until you reach the mid-foot. At this point, the criss-cross lacing can occur to allow good support over the arch and up.

Good luck figuring out the loop lacing lock. Most people stare at their shoes for a minute before understanding. The laces should only be snug and not be over tightened. This will make your run/walk very uncomfortable. Hope you enjoy.
